Oh yes, it’s Monday! Another week to begin with, and many
tasks to align. Everything seems urgent and priority is a fight. All clients
and bosses, somehow come on in ‘active mode’ as the week begins. And every work
in hand is almost on fire. Whew!
But you can’t give up. Al you have to do is manage it well.
Of course keeping everything in mind is a problem. Whom to call back, whom to
follow, who was to get back to you, to whom you had to confirm what,
appointments, meetings, your own deadlines, follow ups, closures, personal
commitments, meals… Everything is haywire.
All in all, it’s not just Monday but a Madday, which marks
the beginning of every week. To help settle the chaos, it is best to list your
taks down. Have it all jotted somewhere: on a post-it, on your phone, in your
diary, or in your task manager on your outlook. Give them priorities, calculate
the time involved, keep a buffer and set the deadlines. Or if you already have
the deadlines, arrange your tasks and deliverables accordingly and get the ball
rolling. Whatever way you wish to align, just do it. Once you are done with a
task, strike it.
A task list has its own benefits, below are a few of them:
- You have the tasks listed, so there’s no forgetting for the entire day.
- You have your goal set. Clear aim-clear effort.
- Striking a task on completion, gives you sense of satisfaction and sets your momentum going.
- An immediate update asked by your seniors allows you to state clearly, what all you are working on.
- Gives you an idea of your bandwidth in case a new and urgent task arrives.
- Knowing all your priorities, in case required you can shift and skip to adjust another one.
- Makes you more systematic.
- Helps you analyze your productivity at the end of the day.
Though this advice of task-list comes to you on a Monday,
you must actually make it a habit. And you’ll see yourself come out a strong
manager both at home and office, it works brilliantly!
