Our planet Earth came into being much before us, but for all
the bounties it gives us we needed a special day for her too. Increasing and
alarming rate of degeneration taking place needed awareness and addressing. And
today though we all are aware, and many of us are doing our bit to support for
the health and cause of our planet earth, our efforts are a little slow and
distracted. Here are a few things that we can try and do continuously:
- Save water. Close all dripping taps and avoid unnecessary wastage.
- Use more of jute and paper bags than the plastic ones.
- Fill your steel or glass water bottle when you step out rather than buying or carrying those plastic bottles.
- Your electrical appliances not in use should be plugged off. Other switches that you carelessly leave on should be turned off.
- Try and get away of old and obsolete electric appliances, they eat up more power and energy.
- Plant trees. More and more corporate are doing CSR these deeds today but most of us should do it regularly and whenever possible.
- In winters, leave your geysers on for less time. Try and bath in shortest possible time to avoid wastage of electricity.
- Similarly for ACs, try using them as your last resort. Try switching them off or keeping them on eco mode whenever possible.
- Many people these days have gone in and brought solar cookers and prefer cooking in natural sunlight at least for their weekend meals. Which could be a good practice to adapt and contribute.
- So as aware planeteers…lets do our bit to contribute towards the well being of our mother earth.
Happy Earth Day!
